Andrea Huelin began her career as a journalist and broadcaster with ABC Radio before her love of the arts led her into marketing and communication roles in public art institutions. A twist of fate saw Huelin change track again in 2011, when she began her first formal studies in visual art. Since then, she has had several successful solo exhibitions, and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions around Australia.
Huelin is a painter who takes her inspiration from the often-overlooked stuff of everyday life. Using loose brushwork, Andrea creates oil paintings from quirky scenes and juxtaposed objects that have often presented themselves by accident. A former journalist, Andrea is interested in observing and recording what she sees, giving pause to fleeting moments and offering new ways to observe the ordinary.
